  1.  Firstly,I would be eternally grateful to anybody that could help me.

  3. I have a Gateway P5-100, with W'95 and for the last 3 weeks I have 
  4. constantly tried to install a USR 14.4 Vi external modem but to no avail.
  5. I am very new to this and it is why I opted for an external. W'95 refuses 
  6. to acknowledge it is there.  I have manually set it at COM1 and COM2 but 
  7. to no avail.  I have run all the suggested troubleshooting techniques 
  8. from W'95 but nothing.  Is it possible that I need to set the COM port 
  9. elsewhere other than in Add/Remove Modem.
